Finance & Operations Manager

Job Description

As we become bigger and busier, we need greater financial controls and processes, better management information and more operational efficiency to make the very best of the resources at our disposal.

We are therefore looking to add a new member to our friendly and tight-knit team. The Finance & Operations Manager, reporting to the Director, working alongside the Treasurer and supported by a part-time admin assistant, will be a key member of the management team and will ensure we continue to grow and develop from a firm foundation.

Job Description

Strathearn Arts’ Box Office, which was opened in May 2021, has quickly become the shop window for the organisation. In addition to selling tickets to our events and handling enquiries the Box Office also provides a retail showcase for over 25 local artists and craftspeople. At the same time, the organisation has grown and developed which has led to an increasing need for admin and clerical support.

We are therefore now looking to recruit an Admin and Retail Assistant, whose background and experience demonstrate a combination of strong customer service and retail capabilities with exceptional organisational skills and expertise with MS Office software tools.


The role is part-time with working hours from 10am – 4pm, 10 days per month (averaging 15hrs per week). Volunteer with us

We work with an amazing team of volunteers who come from all walks of life and who give their time so generously to help us. They fulfil a wide range of roles to provide a rich programme of cultural events as well as help support the wider community. 


Volunteering at Strathearn Arts is an excellent opportunity to see a diverse range of shows and events, and an opportunity to meet, work alongside and socialise with other local people. The only qualification you need is a commitment to supporting the arts within our wonderful local community here in Strathearn. We know that everybody’s availability and time constraints differ, and so we have a variety of roles to suit regardless of how much or how little time you can offer. 


We currently have opportunities in: 

  • Stewarding events 

  • Setting up for events  

  • Bar 

  • Marketing and publicity 

  • Building repairs and improvements 

  • Event tech 

  • General admin

Whatever role you sign up for, you can be confident that we will provide full training and support by our experienced team of current volunteers and staff.  

The roles explained in a bit more detail: 

Stewarding – active customer-facing role, responsible for customer safety, checking tickets, cash handling 

Event Set-up Support – physical role setting up tables, chairs and film screen    

Bar – serving drinks and customer service, cleaning bar area, payment handling     

Marketing & Publicity Distributors – we are seeking outgoing, friendly and organised people to assist with the distribution of publicity material and help us get the word out  

Projectionist – operating projector for films  

Lighting and Sound Technician -operating the lights and sound mixing desk 

Repairs and Maintenance – helping with practical improvements and repairs to the building 

Office Administration Support – we need people to help with various administrative tasks and reception cover.
